Alasdair is rapidly gaining experience in adventure racing from the world of triathlon where he competed for a number of years and represented the GB age group team. Alasdair has become a strong team member within the squad and for 2011 has taken on a Captain's role for his next ARWS XPD event.

Just in Case you Wanted to Know...

Which adventure race is on your must do list?

I’d really like to go back to the Western Isles of Scotland and race the Hebridean Challenge. I took part in a three day adventure race up there with a work’s team there many years ago as a one-off. Now that Adventure Racing is my main sport, I’d like to go back and do the new five day race - the scenery is spectacular.

What's your favorite Adventure Racing discipline?
I like it all. I’ve always liked trying different sports and trying to improve in them – only time limits me. To succeed in adventure racing requires an ability to apply oneself to a wide range of sports

Do you think there are benefits in racing triathlon before getting involved in AR?
Coming from a triathlon background, it has been easy to adapt to the multi-sport nature of AR. Both require planning of kit and nutrition for each leg of the race. Triathlon training has also given me a total body fitness which helps with the demands of the many sports within adventure racing.
